More and more consumers are looking online for places to stay, things to do and where to eat. They are also reading reviews of your business by other consumers... consumers that are not necessarily 'the paid' critic! So are you out there? Do you know what they are saying?

This workshop examines how the use of Social Media, SmartPhone applications and Trip Advisor can be highly effective means of communicating to your audience.

See below for more details on each presentation:

20 reasons why your business should use Social Media
Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn - you've heard of them, you may have accounts with them, but what can they do for you?  Like it or not, the way businesses in the 21st century promote, educate and communicate has changed forever.  With a dynamic approach and the right level of persistence, social media can transform the way you do business.

Sali Earls is Communications Manager of Software Alliance Wales and draws on her own experience as a burgeoning social media enthusiast to demonstrate the reasons she believes your company should embrace the social network.

Smartphone Applications
Many of our visitors will have what is an 'App' and how would an 'App' for a smart phone help your business?

Apple's iPhone has created a new type of market for software developers over the past few years, and one which has been embraced by other phone system builders from Android to Windows Phone 7. This talk will look at the kind of Apps relevant to tourism organisations, and ways in which universities can help you build one.

Prof Chris Price is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Aberystwyth University. He has been responsible for five released iPhone Apps. "Welsh Lessons" and "Cwrs Mynediad" promoting the Welsh language, "Bible 365", "IOSDEVUK" and an App internal to Aberystwyth University that suppports the marketing activity of the University.

Making the most of Trip Advisor
Trip Advisor is widely recognised & used by the consumer. Not only is it used for people looking for somewhere to stay, but it is also used by people looking for places to eat & things to do. It is, therefore, important to know what the consumer is saying, and to respond in a positive & appropriate way.

Karen Plumb, Commercial Director from Trip Advisor will provide an overview of the website, including explaining the benefits of Trip Advisor's free tools, how to access detailed performance stats for your property and how to generate bookings direct from Trip Advisor.
